"Oh Canada Eh! Game video ~ Video and photos taken during our visit to the Village of Buckhorn."

Judi and I love Buckhorn. In fact, we lived for a few years about 10 km south of Buckhorn on Chemung Lake.

"Welcome to the Village of Buckhorn."

During that time we became very familiar with the community of Buckhorn and its people. Buckhorn is a 20 minute drive north of Peterborough and is located at Lock 31 on the Trent-Severn Waterway.

"The BUCKHORN BUCK"

Buckhorn’s residents and volunteers are the charm of this community, dedication and enthusiasm! It never ceases to amaze me, when I talk to one of the many volunteers, of just how much energy they possess!

"Boating at Lock 31 ~ Buckhorn"

Boating on the Trent-Severn Waterway is an amazing experience! Buckhorn's Lock 31 is one of the most popular stops on the Waterway, with its shops and restaurants.

Buck4

"Lots happen in and at Lock 31"

Buckhorn hosts many fabulous events, both at or near Lock 31 and at the Buckhorn Community Centre. Rock The Locks (August) is one of these great events!

Buck6

"Upper Buckhorn Lake"

If it’s fishing or boating that you are interested in, Buckhorn is located between two fabulous lakes, Lower Buckhorn to the east and Upper Buckhorn to the west. These two lakes are great because they form part of the Trent-Severn Waterway.

Buck7

"Cody Inn"

While living and boating in the Buckhorn area, we dined at many of the Village's restaurants. The Cody Inn was one of our favourites.

Buck8

"The Main Street Landing Restaruant"

This versatile area has a lot of other things to see and do. There is the City of Peterborough 35 km to the south and Bobcaygeon 24 km to the west. No matter what time of year you choose to visit Buckhorn, you will never be at a loss for something to do.

Buck10

"The Buckhorn Canoe Company"

One of the many great businesses located the Buckhorn area is the Buckhorn Canoe Companywhich builds, restores and outfits traditional all-wood, wood-canvas canoes and small boats.

Buck11

"Another Buckhorn business, the Buckhorn Yacht Harbour"

When we were boating in the Buckhorn area, we stored and moored our boat at the Buckhorn Yacht Harbour. While we were moored there, we saw a number of boats being towed into the Harbour. The Buckhorn Yacht Harbour was one of the few places on the Kawartha Lakes where large boats could have their damaged propellers repaired after a collisions with Stoney Lake rocks!

Buck12

"The Buckhorn Community Centre"

Many events are held at the Buckhorn Community Centre!

Here is a list of some of them: Dinner Theatre (held in the spring and fall), Spring Craft Show (held in May), Canada Celebrations (held July 1), Buckhorn Fine Art Festival (held in August), Harvest Craft Show (held Thanksgiving Weekend) and In the ‘Nick’ of Time (held in late November).

Other great events are held in the region and add to the popularity of the area. A few include the Buckhorn Maplefest held at the McLean Berry Farm in March. Both the McLean Berry Farm and the Buckhorn Berry Farm are owned and operated by the McLean Family. Their Buckhorn events, including "Pick Your Own Berries", are the Buckhorn Maplefest (McLean Berry Farm) held in the spring and the Buckhorn Pumpkin Festival (Buckhorn Berry Farm) held in the fall.

"The Buckhorn Fine Art Festival"

I think Buckhorn may be best known for its annual Fine Art Festival. 2017 will mark its 40th Anniversary. This is one of the finest fine art festivals in North America!

Buck14

"At the Festival"

Over the last 30 years, Judi and I have visited the Festival many times and look forward to the Buckhorn Fine Art Festival many more times!

Buck15

"Canadian Wildlife Artist, Eddie LePage, creating another masterpiece."

People and events is not all that Buckhorn offers. Not surprising there are several great art galleries located in the area, including the Whetung Ojibwa Centre and Gallery-on-the-Lake. The area is also home of several well-known artists, including internationally recognized and collected, Michael Dumas and Eddie LePage.
