Gary McWilliams (aka Festival Nomad)
It's hard to believe that FALL is already here! It seems like yesterdaty that Judi and I were planning our SUMMER tour. I guess that that is now "ancient" history.
So, now onto the FALL and all it has to offer! Some people think that now that SUMMER is over that there is nothing left to do... WRONG. If fact, many communities close up for business. I know that these communities gear-up for summer weather, but perhaps they should think "outside the box" and look for other FALL oriented events and activities. One such example (and there are many others) is MEAFORD. In late September and October they hold their annual SCARECROW INVASION. This is a really great event that attraction 100's of visitors to Meaford. It's great fun to watch people taking "selfies" with the Scarecrows!
FALL is such a great time of the year, I want to prove it to you! This FALL issue contains several videos of fun and interesting FALL ADVENTURES. ENJOY!
Fresh produce, home baked pies and goodies and interesting crafts, that is what Farmers' Market offer, especially in the FALL, when fresh local produce is available and at its best!

Following the Georgian Mountain Apple Pie Trail is great fun. Each year, when the areas are at their peak and being harvested, the Georgian Hills become alive with wonderful FALL colours and the SMELL of "Fresh Baked Apple Pies"!

Fall Fairs are a wonderful place to take your whole family! Exploring Fairs and discovering how Rural Communities and Cities relate to each other. Agriculture Fairs, big and small, offer so much to everyone who visits them!

The FISH are RUNNING!!! The FISH are RUNNING! That's the call we hear in the FALL, when the "Chinook Salmon" are heading upstream to the FISH LADDER. The banks of the entry rivers are crowed with hopeful fishermen, ready to catch "THE BIG ONE"!

FALL COLOURS are starting to come out. They seem a little later this year and a little duller. Time will tell if "Mother Nature" will allow them to reach their full colours. I hope so, but they are still extremely beautiful. It's time for you and your family to take a northern drive in the country!

BUCKHORN BERRY FARM ~ PUMPKIN FESTIVAL
Each October the McLean/Buckhorn Berry Farms host their Buckhorn Pumpkin Festival. It's great fun for the whole family! You can walk through a maze, be scared by the scarecrows, go pumpkin bowling, watch the pumpkin cannon and take a ride on the Pumpkin Patch Wagon Ride!

Cruising on the Muskoka Lakes in the FALL is a VERY MEMORABLE event, especially if you are cruising in the PEERLESS II and Captain Randy Potts (owner of SUNSET CRUISES) is at the helm! The Muskoka Lakes at any time of the year are spectacular, but during the FALL, they are awe inspiring! The MUSKOKA LAKES and the PEERLESS II are calling!

NORFOLK COUNTY FAIR & HORSE SHOW
As I mentioned above, FALL is the time for FALL Argicultural Fairs, and one of Ontario's best is the NORFOLK COUNTY FAIR & HORSE SHOW (Simcoe). It's held each Thanksgiving weekend and offers so much to fair visitors. This year's event is no different... great entertainment, yummy food, farm animals (cows, sheep, chicken and more), midway rides, agricultural displays and exhibits and lots of competitions!

NORWOOD FALL FAIR
Another great FALL FAIR is the NORWOOD FALL FAIR. This unique fair also takes place on Thanksgiving Weekend. This is a BIG fair held in a SMALL communitiy (Norwood)! Judi and I were very "pleasantly" surprised by how wonderful this event was. From the Fair Parade, to the grounds to all of the fun events, we enjoyed this amazing Fair. It's only a short drive north of Cobourg and the 401 Highway.
