Keady Farmer's Market
by Festival Nomad Correspondents, Connie and Tom McAleese
We had a great time up north last week. The trip included a visit to Keady Farmer's Market, Grey Rd #3 Tara Ontario. It is open every Tuesday from May to September, 7:00 am - 1:00 pm. There are dozens of stalls filled with freshly picked fruit and vegetables, plants, cheese, fudge, wonderful bread & desserts prepared by the Mennonites, honey & beeswax candles (which are supposed to burn a lot longer than the regular candles). Racks and racks of clothing and handicrafts. We fell in love with the puppies, especially the one being petted by the baby. We even checked out the livestock which was being auctioned, but decided a puppy would be easier to take home! Both the livestock and puppies stayed in Keady!
We had a great day, bought fresh fruit, vegetables, potato bread and maple syrup! The Keady Farmer's Market is a wonderful place to visit and to shop at!
As their website says, "Come and visit our farmer's Market at Keady Ontario. Take a stroll through rustic alleys packed with 250 vendors selling a wide variety of produce ranging from Niagara peaches to deli meats, home baking, crafts and a broad assortment of other goods. And while you're there, check out the three livestock auctions beginning at 9 am."
